Come learn how to make knotted bracelets with Ahmoy of Xiao Quilt!
In this class, participants will learn how to use traditional Asian knots to make fun modern jewelry. Ahmoy is a Chinese knot artist, and this class will also incorporate 매듭 Maedeup, the art of Korean knot tying.
Materials available will include wooden beads from Hà Nội, porcelain beads from Shànghăi, as well as stone and plastic beads that the instructor has collected over the years. Many of these bracelets are made with jade, and there will be jade discs and beads provided as well. Participants will learn how to use silk and elastic cords, how to affix metal and plastic clasps, and how to use knots to make their bracelets strong and beautiful.
The instructions for these knots are created by Ahmoy, and will be available to be taken home. Each participant will be able to make multiple bracelets or necklaces.
